Marc Campet

Operating area :

Country : Vietnam
Job : Technical manager for Asian and Vietnam aquaculture

After his baccalaureat, Marc wanted to satisfy his love for aquaculture. So he took a BTS in aquaculture. Then curiousity rapidly motivated him to complete this training with a “Technical Degree in applied aquatic sciences” at Galway university, he then took an Engineering diploma at the Ecole National Superieur in Rennes, and ended with a thesis (still being worked on) in collaboration with ENSAR and CIRAD.

Description :

Marc loves fish! Which is why he has been working for almost 5 years on a floating cage in the Mekong delta. Also why, close to his office, he has installed 80 aquariums for experiments on fish and prawn nutrition. Also why he spends a third of his time with fish breeders, either at the farms or running technical seminars. But as he says : “what I love in this job is the contact with people: technical discussions around the ponds, time spent scratching your head to find a solution to help a customer, and sharing success. Research is also exciting: combining freedom, proliferation of ideas and practical aspects, like simply touching the fish. All this can lead to extraordinary discoveries, like the special role he enjoyed playing in mastering pangansius reproduction”.

To do his work Marc must be “Jack of all Trades” and be able to adapt to situations, cultures and different work methods. Technical solutions can only work if they are found together with the fish breeder. The international experience of both Marc and Ocialis is passed on thanks to the perfect cooperation between Marc, the Ocialis team and the breeder. Those close to Marc know his human qualities and infectious delight: “it’s a great moment when the fish comes out of the pond and we share the pleasure of the breeder” .
